More about this list

Wieliczka, the salt-mine town just south-east of Kraków, has a chess calendar of its own. The chess section of MKS MOS Wieliczka plays rated blitz at Easter, in May and before Christmas, and the town has held a night blitz marathon in July and a blitz championship with numbered editions. The open championship of the Wieliczka district was played in June in the conference hall of the HERZ company on ul. Grottgera.

School chess is part of the commune’s own sports calendar: the municipal school sports centre organises chess games for pupils, with individual and team days in October. KS Herz Dragons Wieliczka is a newer club, admitted to the Polish Chess Federation in 2026 and listed in the Małopolska register.
